For the 2013-2014 school year Christina Kent Early Childhood Center received a grant from the United Way of Central New Mexico that helps to bring excellent early education to at risk children, which will impact their readiness for entering school.
The 2013-2014 grant is supporting professional development to include teachers from other centers that are interested in studying the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education, in which all children, including those who face barriers because of economics or different abilities, are seen as capable and strong.
You can designate all or part of your annual United Way donation for Christina Kent Early Childhood Center.
Christina Kent has a long and valued history with United Way. Known in the past as Albuquerque Day Nursery, and Christina Kent Day Nursery, we were one of the first nonprofit in Albuquerque to be designated as a Community Chest agency in 1934. Community Chest was the precursor to United Way.
